Lanthan Safe Sky draws a successful balance: 2024 deadline met!

2024 was the “year of the ADLS implementation”: in both the onshore and offshore sectors, upgrades and conversions were carried out on a piecework basis last year. The results are impressive: The ADLS system has already been activated at more than 4,600 wind turbines and the lights are off at night; the applications for the remaining 1,400 wind turbines have been submitted to the authorities and the type approval body for final approval. This means that all WTGs under contract for 2024 are equipped and have a fully verifiable application. In view of the statutory deadline for the ADLS conversion, which expires on December 31, 2024, this last point is particularly important. “The vast majority of operators started retrofitting early enough and did not run into any time pressure. But even the projects that started later are all in the bag. The only important thing for operators to know now is that a fully verifiable application must be submitted to the relevant authorities by December 31, 2024,” explains Managing Director Henning von Barsewisch.

The market leader has also made great progress in the offshore sector: 16 wind farms with 927 wind turbines have already been equipped and the applications have already been approved by the Federal Maritime and Hydrographic Agency or are under review. Christian Hammer, Co-Managing Director and Head of Project Management, sums up: “We are very proud of our achievement in completing all projects on time together with our customers, partners and the outstanding team. The bar will be set even higher in the new year, as all projects will be equipped with ADLS technology when the systems are commissioned and the site inspection should have been completed. This means that our approach has become the standard and we can continue our successful collaboration with our type approval body seamlessly.”

LSS has also significantly expanded its close cooperation with wind turbine manufacturers and will be commissioning further projects directly with leading OEMs in spring 2025. “We are particularly pleased about this,” says Henning von Barsewisch. “It shows that our system is increasingly asserting itself against the competition. OEMs in particular, who were not previously our customers and had relied on other systems, are now turning to us with confidence to implement projects with our secure, affordable and high-performance ADLS system.”

In addition to strengthening its position in Germany, the company plans to focus on other countries in the coming year: In the Netherlands, three large wind farms have already been equipped with transponder ADLS and a pilot project has been supplied in the UK; further emerging markets are developing in Austria and other countries. Julian Bialk, Business Development Manager: “In the first wave, we will focus on onshore, and then also on offshore. For example, we are already very far along with a major manufacturer for an offshore project in the Netherlands. We are looking forward to a successful 2025!”
